Zion is the student-run magazine by the Gator Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. Zion was previously a yearly publication, but it has progressed to this online website.
Zion Buzz, a bimonthly newscast, is also a relatively new addition.
Our Mission:
To provide students with a publication where they can learn and discuss issues impacting the black community at the University of Florida.
Background Information:
People typically wonder what Zion stands for. When Zion Magazine was first born, the president was a huge fan of “The Matrix.” The characters in the movie were trying to go back to their home called Zion. For us black journalists at the University of Florida, Zion represents our home. It’s where we can be creative and express ourselves and our interests.
